Project activities  

Helping in the maintenance of the terrain and the horticulture and doing maintenance jobs at  the building. Helping at the development of pens for small cattle: rabbits, guinea pigs, goats, chickens, etc.

What’s expected of the volunteers?

• Speak well Spanish

• Love for handling handicapped children

Accommodation and living environment

There are several possibilities to stay: at the care farm or in the main building where the handicapped live, or in Cochabamba city (then you have to travel 45 min. to the care farm).

Period/Duration

• Throughout the year with a minimum of 2 months
• You usually work five days a week but you can also choose to combine it with other projects and for instance only work three days a week at the care farm

Local Costs

US$ 150 per month to rent an apartment in town;

If you stay at the care farm,  or in the main building, you usually work for room and board.

Experiences

I experienced the project as wonderful, the work fit me like a glove. After a period of 28 years working at a company I felt the urge to do something physical and especially work outside. Well, that worked out just fine! 

I cooperated wonderfully with the employees. I was really considered to be one of them and the appraisal was great because I did it on a voluntary base. The degree of self-employment was particularly high.
