Organization

The organization is a non-profit, non governmental organization organizing international volunteer projects since 1995. The organization is recognized by Mexican law and authorities as a volunteer organization. Main task of this NGO is the organization of these international volunteer projects with the aim of helping with cultural, social, and ecological problems in Mexico, but also the promotion of intercultural exchange and global understanding between a volunteer and the locals.

Project activities

• You’re going to work in a school near Michoacan to participate with the local youngster in activities that promote the cultural exchange, and you’re going to learn from the youngsters.
• Giving English and/or French classes to the local youngsters of the school and to the locals
• Organizing activities to promote interaction with the locals, and cultural exchange. You’ll get support from the teachers of the school.

What’s expected of the volunteers?

• Nivel intermedio in Spanish
• Being capable of speaking in front of a group
• Good at English and/or French
• Some paediatric, sociological or psychological skills or some knowledge of social work
• Social attitude
• Excellent communication skills
• Enthusiastic, enterprising, patient and responsible
• Able to adapt to the circumstances of the project, but also to the culture (accommodation, food, locals, and other volunteers)

Accommodation and living environment

• Board and lodging are available for the duration of the project. The volunteer lives at a family.

Period / duration

• Throughout the year with a minimum of 6 months.

Local costs

• One time contribution to the local NGO of  €250,- this contribution is used for a preparation training, for support of the volunteers, administration, travel costs to Morelia City, and the extension of the visas in Mexico).
• About 500 US$ for a period of 6 months including board and lodging at a guest family.
