Samen met 14 andere vrijwilligers ga je voor 18 dagen naar een natuur en sociaalproject.
Het project duurt van 13 t/m 31 augustus.
Let op: naast het inschrijfgeld betaal je ter plekke nog een lokale bijdrage van € 250.
• Environment conservation Planting 1000 eucalyptus trees in schools and community • Preparation of 2 tree nursery beds • Conducting community workshops • Conducting outreaches in local primary and secondary schools (Debates) • Workshops with workcamp participants on recycling and eco friendly projects • Meeting with the environment and natural resources officer Agriculture • Making composite manure pits • Carrying organic manure to plants/gardens • Planting food crops and vegetables • Weeding of tree seedlings in Nursery beds
Accommodation: • Accommodation will be in simple rooms. • Participants will be required to carry own mat and sleeping bag. • The camp site has simple bathrooms and pit latrines no showers • A simple cooking shelter (Kitchen) • Participants are requested to bring with them mosquito nets. Meals: • The food is basic and simple. Be ready to take the same dish for some days in a row. • Fruits can at times be availed for the campers from local markets. • Participants will chose food to prepare depending on the availability. • Work campers will use charcoal or firewood to prepare the meals. • If you need more fruits/extra meals/special diet you can get it on your own cost.
•Visit historical sites, i.e. Wanglei Puvungu and Emin pasha’ s Tomb solar eclipse monument in WADELAI, • Visit to Nearby South Sudanese Refugee camps in Siripi, Rhino camp etc Note: •There opportunities to visit tourist places like Murchison falls, hot and cool Amor pii ( Panyimur) Lendu forest, Aguu hill at own cost •Cultural Nights will be organized on different days for the different countries represented at the workcamp. Please carry along anything that can introduce your culture.
Uganda Pioneers´ Association (UPA) is an indigenous youth voluntary Non-Government Organization (NGO) registered with the National NGO Bureau in Uganda, under ref No. S5914/114. The organization focuses on offering youths with the opportunity to contribute to community development by involving them in community projects through workcamps and international volunteer exchanges. The organisation is Not-for-Profit and does not represent any political, religious or sectarian motives.
Participants shall be required to bring own sleeping bag, mat, pillow, mosquito net, sun cream, mosquito repellent, working gloves and boots/shoes. Light working clothes during working hours and warm clothes for nights, as it may turn out to be chilly or cold; Musical instrument (optional); torch or flash light; water purifiers (optional); Personal effects (i.e. soap, toothpaste, toiletries). It would be nice if you can bring your national flag, common art facts of your country, stories, games, pictures and local recipes. It would be helpful for the cultural presentations about your country and for any social interactions. Above all do not forget a happy and positive attitude. NB: Very short skirts, dresses and shorts (above the knee) will not be culturally welcomed.
Visa: The volunteers must apply for a tourist visa online with this link. https://www.visas.immigration.go.ug/ . This should be done a couple of weeks or months before the departure date. The form requires you to fill in the address of the contact person in Uganda and you should use: ZZIWA SAMUEL MUSANYUSA, NANSANA WEST I ZONE, +256785601220. The immigration department sends you an approval document which you must print and present on arrival at the airport. The tourist visa costs 50 US $ and it is better to carry it in cash Participation fee: 250 € for international participants (this includes pick-up from the airport, food and accommodation during the stay in the camp and the on-arrival orientation). It also contributes to the running of the workcamp activities and UPA administration. Note: UPA doesn’t offer airport drop off after the workcamp but can help in identifying the service provider and the volunteer meets the costs ranging between 28-30 Euros.
