Bungi itself is very attractive and it has a good number of options for cultural and eco tours. One thing you do not want to miss during this time is to visit Bi Khole Ruins. “Bi” (Swahili for ‘Lady’) Khole was one of Sultan Said’s daughters and with her wealth had an estate built as an out of town getaway. Built on the western side of the island at the sea, the driveway is visible from the road that goes to the southeast coast. Local rumor has it that Khole planted one tree for each of her lovers. Although this is a romantic thought, it is unlikely that it is true because the trees may predate her estate. The ruins are an interesting visit because of the beautiful setting. The Palace overlooked the ocean and is surrounded by fields Mango trees. Visitors can see the old courtyard and remains of the Persian baths and fountains. Be careful wandering around the ruins; they’re still crumbling. Other possibilities includes:-  Exploring Zanzibar historical, natural and cultural sites. These include museums, local markets, stone town, etc.  Enjoy wildlife and marine life. Jozani forest National Park, Blue safaris swimming, tour to small islands, variety of water sports, spice tour among many other options.  Note: Be aware of people trying to invite you for safari and tours, they might not help that much as most of them are not licensed or registered for such kind of business. It is always cheaper and even fun to do these activities with other participants as a team. You might want to wait until the orientation day to plan together. If needed we can provide some recommendations for companies which has been providing services to our Previous participants over the years with affordable rates while quality, safety and security prioritized.
