Samen met 14 andere vrijwilligers ga je voor 19 dagen naar een landbouw en constructieproject.
Het project duurt van 9 t/m 28 februari.

Let op: naast het inschrijfgeld betaal je ter plekke nog een lokale bijdrage van EUR 265.
 School activities e.g. playing with kids, cooking for the kids, teaching and washing the utensils  Farm work, which includes carrying of manure, digging, weeding and planting of vegetables, filling the tubes for planting, watering the farm and slashing around the fence.  Digging and planting bananas and local vegetables for them.  General cleaning f the resource centre  Cleaning the chicken houses and giving the food to chicken  Carrying out construction wastes to the road for road maintenance  Planting trees and fruit trees  Home visits and assisting the widows with general cleaning  Exchange programs in local schools and health talks in the afternoon
Accommodation will be at the project in this workcamp and it is important that you have your own sleeping bag. During the workcamp, volunteers will get food from locally available foodstuffs and the volunteers will share the responsibility of preparing the food
In this workcamp, volunteers can visit Lake Victoria at Kisumu city, which is about a 1-hour drive from the project. Volunteers will also have the opportunity to visit the Ahero rice fields, the local market or take an optional one-day trip to Kakamega Rainforest.
The Ahero Resource Centre is located in Ahero, about 25km east of Kisumu town. The Centre serves as a One-Stop-Shop, offering a variety of services to the local community. The centre is equipped with a training facility to provide capacity building on Drought Resilient Agriculture, Entrepreneurship. The in-class training is complemented by practical learning on the adjacent Farmer Field School (Model Farm) which also encompasses a Greenhouse, Tree Nursery and Poultry Farm that provide practical examples of modern farming practices as well as a source of nutrition and income for the Orphan Feeding Program. The Ahero Resource Centre is also equipped with a comprehensive rainwater-harvesting infrastructure to fully utilize the short and heavy rains in the region. Additionally a borehole provides a reliable and affordable source of safe water for the community. From time to time, depending on the availability of funds,150 school-going Orphans and Vulnerable Children get a free lunch at the centre in order to improve their concentration and school performance. The centre is also providing early childhood education for 50 most vulnerable pre-school children between 2 and 5 years in order to provide quality and access to early childhood services to children to promote their intellectual, physical, and social development Additionally the centre is aims to provide youth to acquire Basic Computer Skills. The training equip the youth with basic computer knowledge as well as Microsoft Office applications & internet usage skills to strategically use them for reaching their goals in life (e.g. writing a professional CV, application letter or searching and applying online for a job).
CIVS organizes safaris to all the spectacular National Parks and touristic sites in Kenya, with the main attraction being Maasai Mara Game Reserve. Volunteers who wish to go on a safari should apply at least two weeks before arrival to enable us to make proper arrangements. The fee charged is all-inclusive of meals, transport, park entry, accommodation and tour guiding. Safari dates: 6th February – 8th February 2019 Charges: 3-day Safari to Maasai Mara National Park, 340 Euro
