The work will involve the Uprooting lantana camara an alien invasive specie prevalent in the World Heritage Site destroying vegetation and biodiversity. The volunteers will also Maintain the 25 fishing camps along the Zambezi river in the Zambezi National Park in which the campers will reside
Volunteer House -Tents, Volunteers should bring their own sleeping bags and a small mattress. No running water, Pit latrines will be used. Volunteers will be staying at a camping site in the national park.Food will be provided for the duration of the camp. Our camps are self catering , sufficient money will be provided for the camp to buy food and cook together as a family. Please bring with you traditional recipes that do not require particularly special ingredients
Weekends are meant for free tours that group/individuals can organize by themselves. You can decide to visit places of interest within the vicinity of the work cam. It has become a custom in all our Workcamps to have cultural nights. This affords each volunteer the opportunity to present her/his country and culture. Please bring with you your national flag and traditional dress if possible.
The participants will work with the local community and environmental experts from Environment Africa, Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, Department of National Parks and United Children of Africa.
Desire to work hard as well as being comfortable to work with people with from different backgrounds.
It is important to note that projects locations may change due to several reasons beyond our control. There might be few applications for participation, late cancellation by volunteers or the community failing to make its contribution to the project in the last minute, and finally insecure situations. Therefore volunteers are urged to be flexible and accept alternative options.
