Accommodatie en maaltijden

This is normally provided for duration of the project. Most of our projects are usually self-catering (unless it is stated otherwise) and sufficient money is provided for you to buy and cook food together. Please bring with you traditional receipts that do not require particularly special ingredients. Accommodation is usual in classrooms or tents but this is known before hand.

Locatie en vrije tijd

Gorogosa Park is located in Sofala Province in the center of Mozambique, about 1000 km away from the capital city of Mozambique (Maputo). Gorongoza National Park extends over the bracetygia-covered plains north of Beira Corridor to the south-eastern base of mount Gorongoza. Formerly regarded as one of the southern Africa’s finest wild life reserves, attracting over 12,000 visitors a year, with more game than the much larger Kruger National Park in South Africa, the area became central battleground during the Civil war ended in 1992. Since the war ended a lot of work has been done to reopen the park to visitors. Landmine have been lifted, bridges repaired and lodges rebuilt. Weekends are meant to be for free tours that the group can organize by itself. You can decide to visit places of interest around the area of the work camp. It has now become a custom in all our Workcamps to have cultural nights. This affords each volunteer the opportunity to present her/his country and culture. Please bring with you your national flag and traditional dress if possible. Sports and artistic moments will be organized together by the participants and local community. In some cases the workcamp may run during special event (festival, fairs, workshops and others) occurring close to the area where the camp will be running.

1- All participants must proceed to the closest Mozambican Embassy with an application form accompanied by an invitation letter or any other documents provided by AJUDE – Mozambique. The application form can be collected at the embassy or downloaded from the internet on an official page of your nearest Mozambican Embassy or from the Mozambican Foreign Office official page. Normally visa is issued within two weeks time. It is important to notice that there is no volunteer visa to Mozambique but a tourist visa is enough to enter and circulated in Mozambique. Note that a tourist visa can be issued as a single entry visa for 30 days extendable for 90 days or 90 days multi-entry. A Landing visa or border visa is also available at any entry point to Mozambique (border gate, airport, port etc) and this is valid only for 30 days single entry but extendable up to 30 days. The cost of visa may vary from one place to another but is not beyond 100 euros. 2- Note that to enter in Mozambique in this pandemic season you must present your Covid19 negative test from the last 72 hours at the border. No quarantine is required if you have the PCR negative result. Also note that the vaccination rate in Mozambique is still low, below 25% of the population have been vaccinated.
