• Traditional Dance: traditional dance lessons carried out by a trained instructor.
• Modern Dance: Learn basics of a modern dance (Hip-Hop, Break-dance, Dancehall…)
• Drama Workshop: There is the possibility to develop small scenes, depending on the skills of the participants.
• Performances in traditional and modern dance at Bukomero local market street performance and Jam session in Kampala at the UGANDA NATIONAL CULTURAL PLACE).
• Filming and capturing pictures and videos for the production of the troupe.
• Drum making workshops.
Accommodation
• Accommodation will be in simple rooms at UPA farm house
• Participants will be required to carry own mat and sleeping bag.
• The campsite has simple bathrooms and pit latrine with no showers
• A simple cooking shelter (Kitchen)
• Participants are requested to bring with them mosquito nets.
• Carry torch and strong shoes
Food
• The food is basic and simple. Be ready to take the same dish for some days in a row.
• Fruits can at times be availed for the campers from local markets.
• Participants will chose food to prepare depending on the availability.
• Work campers will use charcoal or firewood to prepare the meals.
• If you need more fruits/extra meals/special diet you can get it on your own cost
Location
The workcampers will stay at a UPA farm house in Kakunyu village, Bukomero Town Council in Kiboga District. The district is located in the central part of Uganda bordered by Kyankwanzi in the West, Nakaseke District in the northeast, Masindi in the northwest, Mubende district in the south and Kibale district in the southwest. Kakunyu lies 85kms on Kampala-Hoima road.
Leisure
During the workcamp period the participants will visit the following places:
• Visit the community market in Bukomero
• Climbing Kateera Community Hills
Note:
Other visits on the weekend, like visiting Kampala (Ghaddafi Mosque, Kasubi Tombs etc) or Entebbe (Wildlife in the National parks, Botanical garden or beaches) are at the cost of interested volunteers.
UPA Cultural troupe is committed to promote community sensitization and awareness through music, dance and drama. The Cultural troupe started in 1994 as a pilot project of UPA. The troupe was started mainly to be used for promoting cultures, running awareness campaigns, fundraising and marketing UPA and her activities.

Jongeren onder 18 jaar moeten voor vertrek verplicht een training volgen. De kosten hiervoor zijn € 50 euro en worden apart in rekening gebracht.
Let op: naast het inschrijfgeld betaal je ter plekke nog een lokale bijdrage van € 250.
