Project information:
This arts and crafts project is part of our Children Development programme.
The aim for us is for children to be able to explore their creativity freely.
This project combines the element of fun and learning. It is scientifically proven that children develop fine motor skills through drawing and painting. Using colours in different ways can have an effect on how children feel. Telling stories and creative writing can help with communication skills as well as self esteem.
We want volunteers to help develop children socially, emotionally and intellectually by using arts and crafts.
OBJECTIVES/ AIMS:
The main objective is for children to express themselves through different creative media with support from volunteers.
Your placement and activities:
We need creative volunteers who can organise and deliver arts and crafts sessions for children. This can include dance, music, drawing, printing, collages, origami and anything else you can think of.
This is a unique opportunity to share your creativity and at the same time learn more about creative Nepal! It’s important for volunteers to promote friendships between children and cross- cultural solidarity through arts and crafts.
There will be one rest day in the middle of your work camp. If you’ve volunteering at a school, the Saturdays will be a rest day also.
Volunteers stay with the host family/hostel identified by VIN.
The living conditions at the host family/ hostel are simple and basic. Male and female volunteers will share the same living area but have separate sleeping rooms.
The volunteers sleep on simple beds / mattress.
