Project information:In 2015, Nepal was hit by an earthquake of the 7.8 magnitude on the Richter scale. 9,000 people lost their lives and 22,000 people were injured.The earthquake didn t only mean loss of lives but it also destroyed thousands of houses and left people without shelter or just temporary accommodations.VIN mobilised rapid response and rescue teams, and is now focussing on the reconstruction and sustainability of homes.OBJECTIVES/ AIM:The main aim of this work camp is to support families struck by the earthquake in 2015 and help to rebuild houses and repair damaged structures.Your placement and activities:This role is physically demanding. So we need fit and able volunteers, who can help us rebuilding earthquake resistant houses by demolishing damaged structures, recycling and reusing bricks, clear debris, dig foundations and help building new homes.VIN has a selection process to support the most vulnerable and needy families.There will be one rest day in the middle of your work camp. If you ve volunteering at a school, the Saturdays will be a rest day also.
Accommodatie en maaltijden
The volunteers will stay with the host family/hostel identified by VIN. The living facilities are simple and basic. Male and female volunteers will share the same living area with separate rooms. The volunteers sleep on simple beds / mattress. Please bring your sleeping bag.

There are lots of sightseeing options in and around Kathmandu. If you arrive early or if you re planning on staying in Nepal after your work camp finished, VIN also organises weekends travel tours to Chitwan Jungle Safari, Pokhara, Nagarkot at an additional cost if you are interested.

The participation fee 200 Euros (30 Euro for transportation) is to be paid on your arrivals at VIN Office or upon booking the placement by Paypal or bank transfer.
