As a volunteer, you would visit local councils & institutes to create awareness through various media on precautions, learning and good practices we had to adopt in our behavior during the 2 years of pandemic in order to avoid any such future disaster. Corona cannot be eradicated completely and hence people have to learn to manage and live with it. We may undertake some of the topics that may include: • Managing stress, fatigue and depression • New economic avenues post pandemic • Dispel the myths of corona scare, • Imbibe correct knowledge & become aware, • Follow cough etiquettes, hand hygiene & personal care, • Spread a word of precaution through your share. Time permitting, volunteers may also be involved in other humanitarian works giving exposure for their personal development. We have identified 10 formal and informal communities which the volunteers will visit and educate people.

Bandh village is small and hilly located in interior mountainous area and the volunteers will have a unique opportunity to live with nature in a peaceful environment. Baddi is the largest industrial area of the state and has 7 major slums for industrial workers and rag pickers. Self organized city tours and excursions. Old Sikh and Hindu temples in the near vicinity can be visited. Nearby Chandigarh city with internationally known Rock Garden is a tourist attraction. A visit to Shimla will offer an opportunity to see high Himalayan Mountains.

Knowledge on covid pandemic and interest in sharing information

The recent pandemic of Covid-19 has completely changed behaviour and perceptions of people. Whereas a segment of community takes all safety precautions the other segment ignores them completely and thinks they are beyond the reach of disease due to their strong immunity and daily wage necessity. Spending an increasing amount of time indoors has driven us to value relationships with family and friends fostering a better sense of wellbeing. This first of its kind pandemic through various economic, social and political avenues, will affect global developmental objectives at a much broader scale. The impacts will be observed more prominently in the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
