Volunteers will take part in various renovation work such as painting the walls with traditional paint and fixing the walls andwindows etc. The farm uses ecological materials and methods. Be ready to participate in a wide variety tasks such as tidying the environment, assisting in kitchen etc. The project is very suitable for volunteers interested in traditional building and ecological living.
Volunteers will sleep in beds with bed linen, showers are available. Food is mainly vegetarian, but other options will also be available. The volunteers will be cooked together and volunteers will also take part in other household chores.
Itatalo is located in beautiful archipelago of Kustavi near Turku in western Finland, about 150 km from Helsinki. www.kustavi.fiThe farm is about 12 km from the village of Kustavi, so the place is great for nature lovers. There will be some organised activities like an excursion to Turku, but mainly the volunteers will organize their own free time. The farm is by the sea so sauna and swimming is available. www.
Itatalo farm has a long history since medieval times. It represents local cultural heritage which is being protected in order to conserve it to future generations as well. There are various activities in the farm to keep it alive, accommodation and catering services etc. There is also a small local heritage association which promotes the importance of local heritage.
Volunteers have to have their own travel insurance. Registration fee 40 euros
