Frankrijk | Restauratie
You will restaure a noria, whitch is an old well which enabled to lift water using the energy produced by the water current (XVIth century). You will rebuild the damaged sections of its walls and you will restore the seals.
You will live in tents in a park, next to a house with garden, kitchen, bathrooms, showers and a nice living room. You will prepare the meals in shifts and participate in the organization of the community life (planning, cleaning, shopping, etc.). Long term volunteers created a vegetable garden, so you can collect the products, which are growing up there if you take care of it! But otherwise, we will try to favor purchases from local producers.
The town of Cugnaux is located at 20 minutes from Toulouse. Therefore, it is a town where you can enjoy the advantages of the city while staying close to the nature. For example, you can visit museums, discover night-markets, have easily access to open-air screening but also to hiking trails, leisure centers, health circuit, typical villages of Haute-Garonne, etc. To prepare your arrival, we will work along with local youth structures to set up meetings and group activities with the local youth of Cugnaux.
Located near Toulouse, the town of Cugnaux and its 17 000 inhabitants are waiting for you in July! The local community has been involved in sustainable development and heritage valorization projects (both tangible and intangible), for many years. A group of Concordia volunteers, who participate in 6 months workcamp, organizes activities in Cugnaux since April: restoring local heritage, meetings with local population, organizing various events, etc. By welcoming an international workcamp, the community would like to introduce the local youth to mobility projects and commitment that exists today all around the world. You will continue the work which has been started by the long-term volunteers and you’ll organize various events with the aim to meet the local youth.
Bring working clothes and shoes (waterproof if possible, in case of rain). Bring a warm sleeping bag and a good camping mat; nights can be chilly and wet. Tents will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own. Do not hesitate to bring activities from home, such as photos, games, musical instruments, food etc. And don’t forget your swimming suit; you may need it! Foreigners from the European Union must bring their personal EHIC (European Health Insurance Card), and all participants must bring their insurance certificate. If health issues arise during the program, volunteers will need to cover all costs; they will be reimbursed upon their return to their home country.
