Frankrijk | Restauratie en natuur
Samen met 7 andere vrijwilligers ga je voor 14 dagen naar een restauratie en natuurproject.
Het project duurt van 6 t/m 20 juli.
On this project, you will work with the support of the technical services of the city to enhance the surroundings of the Library of Two Worlds. Important bridge between the cultural life and the outside world, the library is a cornerstone of the town’s community life, which offers a very rich program throughout the year for all audiences. You will work on the renovation of the walls and the arrangement of steps. At the same time you will also take part in an environmental action by participating in the cleaning of a water spring on the hamlet of La Fontaine des Janon. This site is a natural area with a remarkable ecosystem perfect to discover the richness of the local flora and fauna.
You will be accommodated in tents in front of the Halle des Sport Didier Parpillon at the Raoul Villot stadium just next to the city center. Bring a warm sleeping bag as the nights can be chilly. The kitchen, toilets, showers and group living space are indoor at the Halle des Sports where you will also have indoor shelter in case of bad weather. You will participate in the preparation of meals using products that will be purchased on site. We will promote local products as well as short circuits. Tastings of local specialties may also be organized with local producers.
La Motte-Servolex (11,500 inhabitants) is a town located in the department of Savoie, in the new region of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. It is attached to the agglomeration of Chambery at less than 10km away. Thanks to the motorway network, Lyon and Geneva are respectively 1h20 and 1h from La Motte-Servolex. You will have access to many leisure activities (outdoor cinema, swimming at Lake Bourget, bike ride…) in both urban and mountain landscape.
In the heart of the Alps discover all Savoie through this new international project organized in partnership with the town of La Motte Servolex! Over the years, La Motte Servolex workcamp became a landmark into the culture of this charming town located just a few kilometers away from Chambery, the capital of Savoie. You will be welcomed with a lot of generosity and friendliness thanks to the constant valuable support of the municipal services. Collectively you will participate in an action for the beautification of the site’s cultural and natural heritage with the help of enthusiastic inhabitants ready to share their knowledge and traditions with you.
The municipality will provide you with gloves, reflective vests and safety goggles for work. Remember to take closed clothes and shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Bicycles will also be available for daily trips and moves. It is necessary to know how to ride to fully enjoy your stay. The nights can be cool, remember to bring a warm duvet and possibly an additional floor mat for your comfort. Informal times are already programmed! If you want to share a bit of your culture (recipes, traditional stories, unusual objects …), do not hesitate to take a small piece of your country in your backpack! Foreigners belonging to the European Union must bring with them a personal EHIC (European Health Insurance Card), and everybody must, in any case, bring their insurance certificate. If health issues happen on the project, volunteers will have to pay for it, and then be reimbursed once back in their home country.
