Frankrijk | Restauratie en natuur
Samen met 13 andere vrijwilligers ga je voor 14 dagen naar een restauratie en natuurproject.
Het project duurt van 17 t/m 31 augustus.
With the support of the camp leaders you will clean the vegetation around the water spring and you will take care of the clearing as well. In a second time, you will start to build a dry-stone wall around the water spring itself.
You will be accommodated under tents in the municipal camping of Mons-la-Trivalle, with an access to toi-lets and showers. Tents will be provided but you can bring your own if you want. The group will be sharing the cleaning chores and preparing meals together. The budget will be allocated to the group leader ad you will participate in the preparation of dishes using good products from the market and local producers.
This is the main entrance of the Heric gorges, the commune’s name means ‘The three valleys mountain’, exactly defines the geographical location. Mons La Trivalle is located at the confluence of the three valleys: the Heric, Jaur and Orb, in the middle of the Haut Languedoc Regional Natural Park. This special location is ideal for open air activities: hiking, canoeing, VTT, climbing, three climbing and potholing. During the free time you will have the opportunity to discover the cultural heritage of the site (an ancient roman chapel, a mill, a church) and to meet the local artisans and producers. For the nature lovers, help the preservation of the natural heritage in this workcamp! In the heart of the valley of the Orb, the department area of the Albine is the symbol of the natural wealth of this region. For over 30 years, there has been a protection policy on this site and its ecosystem declared as a “Natural Sensitive Area”, and so many others in the department, in order to create a big network of pro-tected natural areas with a free access for the public. Real footprint of the history, the walls in dry stones are proof that the ancient farmers were obligated to settle in harsh environment in order to survive. Today a 'calade' (paved way) surrounds the site, the water springs are protected by an archway, and the whole place is quite poetic. It's on the confines of this bigger project to preserve the area that you will restore an old water spring.
For the work, please bring gardening gloves, working clothes and closed shoes. As the night can be quite cold, remember also to bring warm clothes and a sleeping bag.Don’t forget your protections against the sun (hat, glasses, sunscreen…) and your swim suit! Some shared times could be organized if you want, so please feel free to bring some cultural materials in your bag (food, recipes, stories or dances)! Foreigners belonging to the European Union must bring with them a personal EHIC (European Health In-surance Card), and everybody must, in any case, bring their insurance certificate. If health issues happen on the project, volunteers will have to pay for it, and then be reimbursed once back in their home country.
Meeting point: Bus station « Centre » of Mons-la-trivalle. Closest airport: Montpellier, Marseille or Paris.
