Frankrijk | Restauratie en natuur
Samen met 13 andere vrijwilligers ga je voor 20 dagen naar een restauratie en natuurproject.
Het project duurt van 28 juli t/m 17 augustus.
This year the work will focus on two main tasks. First you will remove the vegetation on a huge part of the fort's surrounding wall and around the entrance of a tunnel of the fort, in order to facilitate the access to them. Then you will renovate the entrance gate and the outside wood stairs of the site. During the whole project, you will work with local young people. You will also share with them some meals and activities. Both, great ways to get to know each other!
You will sleep on inflatable mattresses in dormitories in a leisure centre. Please bring your own sleeping bag. Food will be provided and cooked by the volunteers taking turns. One kitchen is located at the leisure centre and another kitchen for lunches is located in the fort. Showers are available in the leisure centre.
The fort is located at the top of a small hill in the middle of a 110 hectare regional park, near some urban areas. The town of Montmagny is located 15 km North of Paris. Leisure activities: During the workcamp you will be able to take part in cultural outings and social exchanges organised with local partner associations in order to create more connections between the international volunteers and the local young people. Other free-time activities will be organized collectively, depending on the wishes of the group and the available budget.
The Pinson Mound Redoubt is a military fortification dating from the late 19th century which used to protect the city of Paris. The redoubt is currently hosting some local associations (apiculture, shooting, wine making). International summer camps have contributed over the years to the restoration and renovation of the fort, with the aim of opening it to the public (especially for the heritage days in September). This summer camp is organised in partnership with four neighboring towns, the goal being to encourage local young people to engage themselves in projects within their community. The meeting between international volunteers and local young people is one of the main objectives of the project.
This project should not be seen as a sightseeing trip to Paris. If you wish to visit Paris, you should arrive a couple days earlier or stay a couple of days after the dates of the summer camp.
