Frankrijk | Natuur

Samen met 9 andere vrijwilligers ga je voor 21 dagen naar een natuurproject.
Het project duurt van 15 september t/m 6 oktober.

This year, you will engage in the ambitious and concrete work for the preservation of the environment. With the help of a local craftsman, you will build a floating platform on the Leucate Pond. This platform will be used as a nesting area, free from invasive plants, for the protected Tern bird (a migrating bird). In order to be welcoming for the birds, the platform will be filled with broken oyster shells.
The partner organisation will provide housing in a guesthouse. Transportation (provided by the organisation) will be needed every day to reach the work area.
You will be hosted in Saint Laurent de Salanque, and the work will take place on Leucate's pond. Leisure Activities: This project takes place in an area by the sea, which is visited by lots of tourists during the summer holidays. But at the time of the workcamp, most of the tourists are already gone, and you will have the opportunity to enjoy the numerous leisure activities of the area without being overcrowded by tourists. Moreover, the local partner organisation takes pride in proposing a lot of activities that enables you to discover the local culture. Finally, you will also be engaged in the organisation and the celebrations of a local cultural and ecological festival.
The workcamp will take place in a "Natura 2000" area, an area recognized and protected by the European Union for the quality and uniqueness of its environment. It's been several years now that at the end of the summer, the city and the syndicate in charge of the preservation of this environment organize an international workcamp to participate in the protection of the area.
A lot of the work will take place in knee-deep water, plan your suitcase accordingly!
