Servië | Natuur en restauratie
Samen met 9 andere vrijwilligers ga je voor 11 dagen naar een natuur en restauratieproject.
Het project duurt van 3 t/m 14 september.
Special emphasis is placed on environmental protection and promotion of healthy ecological habits inside and outside the premises of YMCA Youth Center, as well as in some locations in the town. That includes gathering trash, cleaning and arranging green surfaces (parks, ponds and gardens), recycling, composting, painting, repairing and making furniture from used materials decorating it with traditional folklore motives. Apart from that participants will engage themselves in folklore dancing and discover their talents in rehearsing a local choreography. Volunteers from YMCA Serbia, with their skilled coordinators, will lead workshops and folklore sessions. It is expected that a number of folklore dancers from different parts of the region Vojvodina is present, which will bring their own dance moves and folklore background to enrich the program. Before the camp is officially closed, we will present our learning outcome with a unique common mixed live stage-performance at an event in the town. The idea is for this to be held as a festival in the future. Creativity of the participants is especially encouraged.
The volunteers will be accommodated in the facilities of Backi Petrovac Tourist Organization, within a 10-min walk from the youth centre where most of the work and activities will take place. Food, toilettes and showers are provided on the spot.
Backi Petrovac is a small town in Vojvodina, located 25 km from Novi Sad. It is a typical agricultural town of Vojvodina, over 260 years old, known for its Slovak traditions. There will be excursions to nearby villages and to Novi Sad, walk around Backi Petrovac and in the evening, the movies can be watched. Volunteers will learn about and have workshops on topics like history and life of Slovaks in three parts of Vojvodina – Backa, Banat and Srem – about their culture, customs and traditions, educational presentations about their folklore, national costumes and environmental issues.
"YMCA Serbia" is an organization dedicated to work with children and young people (between 8 and 30 years old). Our goal is to support personal development of children and young people by organizing activities for their leisure time, enabling them to live better and more fulfilling lives. This will be the third time we organise workcamps.
When you experience a different culture through educational and cultural exchange you gain a deeper understanding of yourself and those around you – deepening your knowledge of foreign cultures and strengthening international relationships.
