The volunteers will work mainly outdoors to maintain the traditional landscape and parks in the area. They will also assist in various activities when needed, for example organising events for children. The volunteers will also get to know the everyday life in the Finnish countryside. The goal is to increase multicultural activity in Anjala and its community and learn from each other.
Accommodation is organized in a hostel apartment with shared kitchen, living room and a bathroom. The volunteers will get most meals from the canteen of the youth centre, sometimes it might be possible to cook
Anjala is a small village, 25 km from Kouvola and about 140 kms from Helsinki. The Youth Centre is situated in a beautiful area by the River Kymijoki. On the same area there is an old manor building and agricultural school. Volunteers can use the facilities and equipment of the youth centre.
Youth Centre Anjala is one of the nine national youth centres in Finland, supported and supervised by the Ministry of Education and Culture. The Youth Centre has a non-profit civic responsibility of promoting a good life for children and young people. Our main purpose is to serve children and young people as well as support the work of teachers and trainers. The volunteers need travel insurance for the duration of their stay. Registration fee: 50 euros
