The theme of the camp is nature and youth on the countryside and the volunteers will get many opportunities for intercultural encounters. Volunteers should be prepared to present their own country and its culture to local children and youth while visiting local school and youth houses. The volunteers will get a chance to get to know the local nature through renovating and tidying surroundings and hiking trails and taking part in an activity day for protecting a local lake famous for its birds.
Volunteers will be accommodated in the local Youth Centre located in same building with Nature Centre, which runs exhibitions and environmental education. Lunch will be provided by the camp host but all the other meals will be cooked together by the volunteer
Ylane is a small village surrounded by lakes and forests in Western Finland, about 190 km from Helsinki. During leisure time there will be nature activities for the volunteers, such as a trip to Kurjenrahka National Park and other summer activities such as sauna and swimming
This camp is organized together by the Municipality of Poytya and local 4H-club. The local organisations have again joined forces to organise an international work camp in order to give local youth international experiences.
The volunteers need travel insurance for the duration of their stay. Registration fee 50 euros.
