The volunteers will restore dry stone walls in the village of Remerschen (stabilisation, reconstruction of collapsed areas, maintenance) with the help of professional technical leaders.
BEWARE: This workcamp is based on manual and outdoor tasks which might be sometimes hard.
The volunteers will stay in a youth hostel of Remerschen and the meals are provided by the hostel.
Remerschen is a countryside village in the south of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, near the French and German border. It is really famous for his lake, destination of many tourists for the holidays. Luxembourg City is only at 35 kilometres.
“Pierre Sèche” Project is an Interreg cooperation project between natural parks located in an area called the “Greater Region”. The Greater Region lies at the crossroads of the rivers Rhine, Saar, Meuse and Moselle. It gathers together territories of Lorraine in the French region Grand Est, Wallonia, in Belgium, Saarland and Rhineland-Palatinate in Germany as well as the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. Through this project, each partner has the common goal to develop, with a shared methodology, a collective answer to the issues linked to the preservation of the dry stone walls in the Greater Region. To promote this common heritage and “know how” several actions are developed on the whole territory:
– Raising awareness campaigns,
– Skills sharing
This collaboration will promote the preservation of dry stone walls as element of cultural and natural heritage and will allow the creation of a collaborative economy around the dry stone walls in the Greater Region.
Compagnons Bâtisseurs collaborates in this through the support and organisation of three different international workcamps: two in Belgium and one in Luxembourg.
This project is a very new and exciting new partnership since this workcamp will take place in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, a neighbouring country of Belgium.
THIS WORKCAMP IS ONLY OPEN TO VOLUNTEERS FROM COUNTRIES THAT DOES NOT A VISA TO COME TO LUXEMBOURG.
THIS IS DUE TO THE INVITATION LETTER THAT CBB CANNOT PROVIDE FOR THOSE COUNTRIES AS THIS WORKCAMP IS NOT HAPPENING ON BELGIUM TERRITORY.
