You will create a visit itinerary for the lime kilns that have been renovated, build a wooden staircase and different stone walls that will be used to delimit the site. The work will be diversified and there will be lots of different things to do! Supervised by a technical camp leader, you will learn landscaping techniques and traditional masonry techniques using local stones and lime mortars.

You’ll sleep in 2 persons tents (please bring your sleeping bag) in the village near the leisure center. You will have access to toilets, shower facilities, a kitchen and two activity rooms inside the center. You will have the chance to eat outside whenever the weather allows it. The group will be sharing the cleaning chores and cook together. The budget will be allocated to the group leader and you will participate in the preparation of dishes with good products from the market and local producers when possible. On the first evening, the locals will welcome you with a feast made of their culinary specialties!

Davayat is a village located in the Auvergne region situated in the plain of Limagne, very close to the famous regional volcanic mountains. Situated about 20 km north of the city of Clermont-Ferrand, it is a wine-producing region which offers many hiking opportunities, canoe/kayak trips and the possibility to swim in lakes. You will also have the chance to see concerts and shows in the town of Riom during your stay.
For more information: http://www.ville-davayat.com and http://www.tourisme-riomlimagne.fr.

For eight summers now, international volunteers have been coming to Davayat village and learnt how to build with stones and lime mortar, discovered the region and shared meals with the local community.
Concordia has been participating in the renovation of Davayat’s former lime kilns since 2011, working alongside a local organization called Cynorhodon 135, created by friendly volunteers. You will see how much the work has already progressed. This camp will be the last one on this site; your work will be diversified as you will participate to the final arrangements before the public opening! The local partner’s volunteers are looking forwards to showing you their region. You will also have the opportunity to share friendly moments and good meals with the inhabitants.

Bring working clothes, walking boots and a backpack. Nights can be chilly, so bring warm clothes and a good sleeping bag. You can also bring recipes from your home country, musical instruments and games. You will get around Davayat on foot and by car.
Foreigners belonging to the European Union must bring with them a personal EHIC (European Health Insurance Card), and everybody must, in any case, bring their insurance certificate. If health issues happen on the project, volunteers will have to pay for it, and then be reimbursed once back in their home country.
