During this first year of our cooperation with the City, you will participate in the interior renovation of the daycare centre for children living in the delegated commune of Haute-Chapelle (commune of Domfront en Poiraie) under the supervision of your camp leaders and a municipal employee.
Let’s go on an adventure! You are going to sleep in tents, by 2 or 3 (bring your mattress and your sleeping bag), in the municipal campsite with toilets and bathroom in a building. The cooking and living spaces will be in a large tent. The group will be sharing the cleaning chores and preparing meals together. The budget will be allocated to the group leader and you will participate in the preparation of dishes with good products from the market and local producers.
Domfront-en-Poiraie is located in the South of Normandy and in the Est of Orne Departement.
Meetings with the inhabitants will be organised, in particular through the organisation of an international meal and various other activities.
The group of volunteers will also participate in the “Les Médiévales” Festival.

About Domfront : http://www.ville-domfront.fr/ ; http://www.petitescitesdecaractere.com/fr/nos-petites-cites-de-caractere/domfront
Come and discover the medieval city of Domfront-en-Poiraie, located in the heart of a region with plenty of remarkable heritage, in the department of Orne. It’s an ideal construction site for history lovers!
Its castle and its history are characteristic for the city of Domfront-en-Poiraie. Around the intricated alleys of the upper city, the medieval past of the city is omnipresent: courtyards, half-timbered houses, towers, walls; all within easy reach.
You will also have an opportunity to discover Norman culture: culinary specialities, hiking, discovery of the forests and Norman bocage as well as a warm welcome from the inhabitants. From Domfront, the region of Orne is open to you!
The first weekend of the construction site will allow you to go back in time, back to the Middle Ages. Indeed, on August 3 and 4, the “Les Médiévales” Festival will take place: medieval market, knights’ contests, musicians’ strolls in the streets, shows, visit of the castle…
Please bring gardening gloves, good shoes and working clothes. As nights can be quite cold, remember also to bring warm clothes. Don’t forget to bring a sleeping-mat, a warm sleeping bag (and a tent if you have one!).
Don’t hesitate to bring specialities from your home country such as photos, games, music instruments, etc.
Foreigners belonging to the European Union must bring with them a personal EHIC (European Health Insurance Card), and everybody must, in any case, bring their insurance certificate. If health issues happen on the project, volunteers will have to pay for it, and will then be reimbursed once back in their home country.
