On this work camp, we will work on the basement of the cathedral of Noyon. We will replace the joints between the substructure stones of the cathedral’s apse. Last fall, the first group had already begun to paint the door of the rood chamber and those giving access to the choir gallery.
You will sleep in tents, behind the Jean Bouin gymnasium, on the mini-golf course. There are showers, you can use in the gymnasium, and you will prepare and take your meals in there as well.
Noyon is on the axis Paris-Lille, and is 1h30 away from Paris. From the ancient town to the modern era, passing through medieval parts of the city, this will be the opportunity to visit a city with a rich historical background.
The municipality is near the regional natural park Oise-Pays de France. It was an important city during the Middle Ages, where Charlemagne was crowned king of the Francs in 768.
Moreover, since the living area and the work camp are in the center of the municipality, you will be able to meet the local population.
Noyon is a city of about 1400 inhabitants and is located in the department of Oise, in the region of Haut-de-France. It’s a small town rich in history dating from the roman time up to now. Noyon has a lot to offer in terms of heritage and history.
This year, we invite you to a renovation work camp in Noyon. After renovating the door of the rood chamber in the cloister, this year we will continue with the renovation of the basement of the cathedral.
Please bring: working gloves and shoes, casual clothing, hat/cap, sunglasses, sun cream, mosquitos repellent, swimming suit.
