This year, the objective for the work camp is cutting and laying (jointing) stones in order to restore the kiosk in the pedagogical garden. Clearing the area and working on the environmental maintenance will be on the agenda as well.
You will sleep in tents, boys and girls separately, at the football stadium, where you can also find the kitchen, bathrooms etc. The group will be sharing the cleaning chores and preparing meals together.
Saint Maximin is located in the South of Creil, in the “Oise Pays de France” Regional Nature Reserve. Several walks are planned in the heart of the Chantilly’s forest and to its castle.
The small town of Saint Maximin, nestled in the heart of southern Oise’s stone quarries, possesses a particular cultural heritage (cave houses, old open-air quarries, mushroom farms, etc.) that can be seen in a therefore created Museum, La Maison de la Pierre.
After eleven previous successful work camps, the work continues in and around the open pit of La Tranchée, where previous groups have built a pedagogical garden, and created a large font with a scenic atmosphere. Activities will be planned with the municipal youth commission and you will be participating in excursions to the seaside or to Paris for instance. You can expect many exchanges!
Bring working clothes and shoes. For the accommodation in tents, bring your sleeping bag and floor mat. Please feel free to bring some food specialties, pictures, musical instrument from your home countries: things you like and want to share with the group and the local community!
