Recently there have been some floods that have destroyed some of the paths close to the riverside. The work will consists basically to restore these old paths and doing other manual meaningful work that the municipality may consider valuable to restore.
On the afternoons volunteers are asked to stay at the local swimming pool and organize some activities in English with local kids.
Social life would be also very important, so be prepared to meet some youngsters of the area and try to encourage them to participate in the work you are doing. The project is meant to learn the Navarrean culture and history as well. Last weekend participants Will join the local cultural events in the riverbed of Ebro as a way to experience cultural life.
The accommodation will be in the old teacher’s house, which is actually a flat. It has diverse rooms and vols will sleep in bunk beds and will cook for themselves.
The workcamp is situated in the province of Navarra, in the north of Spain. It takes place in a town of 2500 inhabitants close to cities of Pamplona (110 km), Zaragoza (80 km) and Bilbao (230 km) which is the closes reasonable big international airport, as Zaragoza seems to have only connections with Milan and London is more or less 150 km away. Volunteers will be able to enjoy brown and hilly landscape and hot in summer. If you like to do a tour Zaragoza or Pamplona are beautiful cities to explore. Bilbao also offers a lot for those who want to visit a Basque city.
Municipallity of Buñuel, South of Navarra, very close to other Regions such as La Rioja, Castilla and Aragón. This is an important agricultural area of Navarra irrigated by river Ebro. It is located 110 km from international famous Pamplona but far away from touristic spots so it is an easy place to feel the reality of the Spanish rural life.
