Taken to World Heritage List in the Cultural Category “Bursa ve Cumalıkızık: The Birth of Ottoman Empire” at 38th Term Meeting of the World Heritage Committee, consists of 6 entities in Bursa city. These are: The Hans Area including Orhangazi Kulliye (Islamic-Ottoman Social Complex) and its surroundings, Hudavendigar (Murat I) Kulliye, Yıldırım (Bayezid I) Kulliye, The Green (Mehmet I) Kulliye, Muradiye (Murad II) Kulliye, and Cumalıkızık Village. Founded as the first capital of the Ottoman Empire and shaped by social complexes (külliye), the important commercial role of Bursa in history has been revealed by the big hans, bazaars and markets in the city. The Hans Region (Hanlar Bölgesi) has been the heart of the city economy since the 14th century. An exceptional example of the early Ottoman city, Bursa’s urbanization model was a model for the Ottoman-Turkish cities that were founded later. The economic relations of Cumalıkızık Village and other foundation villages in the city center of Bursa with the hans and social complexes made an important contribution to the transformation of the Ottoman Empire into an empire with all its institutions.

In their free time, volunteers will visit Bursa, museums, cultural and natural beauties of Bursa; and participate in workshops that the volunteers can benefit from socially.

We cooperate with the Directorate of Culture and Toursim. This year will be the first year of our cooperation. The supportive organizations are the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

The working area is under the protection of Turkish Republic the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and on the UNESCO – World Heritage List. Due to the sensitive circumstances of the ares, the volunteers have to provide Motivation Letter, and Certificate of Good Conduct
