The activities during the camp will be aimed towards the organization of the free time for the beneficiaries of the children’s home. In the morning and in the afternoon, volunteers will take the beneficiaries to the beach. In the evening hours they will be free to use their creativity to organize various workshops for the children (environmental protection, recycling, creative workshops connected to music or dance, theatre workshops, sports activities etc.) Volunteers are expected to be highly motivated and interested in working with children and to have previous experience in practical work with them, either through formal or non-formal education. Volunteers will work for 6h per day and they will have one day off on which they will go on a trip organized for them.
Volunteers will be accommodated in the summer house belonging to the children’s house together with the children and employees of the of the institution. The bedrooms (bunk beds) and bathrooms will be shared. Volunteers will be provided with all the necessary equipment (linen, blankets etc.). In the resort there is a kitchen whose cooks prepare food for the children, employees and volunteers every day.
The camp takes place at the island of Brač. About 1h ferry drive from Split.
The workcamp is oriented towards the work with children without the adequate parental care who are beneficiaries of the children’s home St. Ana from Vinkovac (Eastern Croatia). 2019 will mark the 16th anniversary of the camp.
Motivation letter including a description of at least 2 potential workshops/activities a volunteer would like to organize with the kids. Police criminal record check (certificate of good conduct) is essential when applying for this workcamp. We would like to inform you that we won’t consider applications with incomplete documentation.
We kindly ask the volunteers to prepare short presentations about their countries and bring food or drinks typical for them, as well as to think of a certain custom from their country that they would like to introduce to the other participants.
