The youth welfare office of the town of Bad Oeynahusen is organising another two-week long holiday games event for 130 children between the ages of 6 and 13, who will be looked after and supervised with the help of both the ijgd group and locals. This year, the holiday event space will be transformed into the “Wild West”.
We will be making typical western clothes, sheriff stars, and cowboy hats, line dancing and much more. Besides this, we will not only be going on exploration tours and immersing ourselves in the fortunes and crafts of the American Indians, but we will also be building a small western town. There are no limits to fantasy. The children will only need help and supervision when working with wood, with hammers and with saws and look forward to you helping them out. Through these activities, the construction of the town is a joint project in which each participant can contribute creatively. Also, the little cowgirls, trappers and treasure hunters, along with the supervisors and your group, will spend the night in the newly built town. Since a new-founded city should be widely and extensively celebrated, a big party will be held together with many other guests at the end of the camp. You will spend the first week preparing the holiday games event together with the employees of the youth welfare office. Besides this, you’ll have the time to get to know each other as well as to explore not only the town of Bad Oeynhausen, but also other cities. In the second and third weeks, the holiday games event will take place. Your ideas and creativity are very much welcome.
You will be staying in a youth hostel very close to the town centre.
The group will prepare and cook meals together.
In Bad Oeynhausen there are many things around which you can organise your free time: a colourful culture scene, Wilhelminian architecture, inviting cafés and the Balitherme water park. Day-trips to places such as Bielefeld, Hannover or Hamburg are possible. In the youth centre you can play billiards, table tennis or table football and also make use of the internet.
A good knowledge of German and pedagogical skills are absolute requirements for this camp.
