You will participate in a large-scale project. Five cottages used to be inhabited within the hamlet, however a lack of water supply made this no longer possible. In 2017, the association searched for and located a new water source that could supply the these homes. Your mission will be to continue this work begun in 2018 by connecting the new water source to the cottages by pipes that will bring the two together. With a technical supervisor, you will discover several methods and different types of work such as: masonry, clearing work, plumbing, etc.
You will be residing in tents in the hamlet of Vaunières. A sanitary block will be at your disposal, including 3 showers and 3 WC. Meals will be shared among the community of villagers, as well as other people and volunteers. In turns, everyone will help with dishes and cleaning the kitchen. http://www.villagesdesjeunes.org/index.php?page=vaunieres

Vaunières, a hamlet like no other! Lost in the depths of Buech, within the heart of the Hautes-Alpes, the association, “Les Villages des Jeunes” www.villagesdesjeunes.org, manages, facilitates, and renovates a reception center at Vaunières since 1964! This hamlet has become a trampoline for youth and adults facing hardships, and is a welcoming place for both French and international students. Vaunières is vacation destination for families, tourists, and people living with disabilities who come to enjoy the tranquility of the mountains and the place’s dynamic atmosphere. Our workcamps with volunteers from an endless diversity of countries, allow us to reinforce the cultural diversity of our work, while opening up the site to the rest of the world; making it a place where people of all ages and different socio-cultural backgrounds agree to meet each other by working together and sharing a community life. We hope that you will also join us in this atmosphere of exchange and collaborative work which characterizes our project.
