The hamlet of Vaunières has an outdoor stage welcoming a number of music groupes and
concerts. This open scene and uncovered, which has allowed snow to deteriorate the stage. Your mission will be to restore the wooden floors, as well as building a new extension. With a technical supervisor, you will discover various techniques around wood (choosing the type of wood, cutting planks, nailing, sanding, etc.) and revisit some mathematical notations (calculating surface area, lengths, etc). At the end of the stay, if you wish, you can put on a show, a concert, or whatever your heart desires.
You will stay in tents in 2 or 3 places on the site of “l’Aurore” which is found 300 meters from the center of the hamlet. At your disposal, there is a cabin for cooking, a sanitary block with water and toilets, as well as a beautiful outdoor spot for eating meals together around a campfire.
You will cook and prepare menus together using local products. Together, you will participate in the organization of the camp: cooking, washing dishes, amenities, cleaning, campfires…
Location: Hameau de Vaunières (7 km of the village de St Julien en Beauchêne, à 50km of Gap)
Leisure activities: You will be able participate in the very active village life during the summer with pizza nights, barbecues, dances, themed parties, international meals, sport activities, hiking, swimming etc. Enjoy locals events including festivals, the Provençal markets, and visiting the Buech region. Together with the lively staff, you will work together in the community life (cooking, washing dishes, organizing the camp, etc.)
Vaunières, a hamlet like no other! Lost in the depths of Buech, within the heart of the Hautes-Alpes, this hamlet has become a trampoline for youth and adults facing hardships, and is a welcoming place for both French and international students. Vaunières is vacation destination for families, tourists, and people living with disabilities who come to enjoy the tranquility of the mountains and the place’s dynamic atmosphere. Our workcamps with volunteers from an endless diversity of countries, allow us to
reinforce the cultural diversity of our work, while opening up the site to the rest of the world; making it a place where people of all ages and different socio-cultural backgrounds agree to meet each other by working together and sharing a community life. We hope that you will also join us in this atmosphere of exchange and collaborative work which characterizes our project.
