Location: La Roche Chalais is located on the Greenwich meridian, at the crossroads of four departments and 70 km from Bordeaux, Périgueux and Angoulême.
Leisure activities: Swimming, canoeing, sightseeing. On the camping site: table tennis, pétanque, foosball, fishing with the local fishing club…
The municipality of La Roche Chalais is hosting an international workcamp of volunteers for the fourth year: after having made paths connecting the village to the river, the work this year will focus on the development of the banks of the Dronne, the river that runs through the bottom of the village, in order to create a fishing area labelled “sport fishing”. With the advice of professional and volunteer technicians of the departmental fishing federation, the river union, the local fishing club and municipal technicians, you will open fishing spots, access to shores, and install information panels. The use of manual tools is preferred: pruning shears, saws, branch cutters, etc. in order to preserve this fragile environment. All of these different local people and regulars of the campsite where you will be accommodated will offer you many ways to participate in local life: meals, activities with the children of the school, local associations… You will discover the hospitality of the community, the charming landscapes, and local heritage, by organizing activities with the other volunteers and leaders of your program.
You will often work with your feet in the water, bring suitable boots and clothing !
