The municipality of Lozoyuela-Navas-Sieteiglesias is located north of Madrid Region, in the area of the Sierra Norte
(Nothern Mountains) (they are just 66 km. north of Madrid, on the National I highway). Its surface area is around 52
km2 and is located 1,028 m. height above sea level. It consists of three historical towns, which merged in 1973.
Lozoyuela, the largest, is located in the center of the municipality, while Navas de Buitrago and Sieteiglesias are
located to its west.
There are various approaches for collecting water and conditioning springs, but the simplest method will be implemented, which includes the following 5 steps:
1- The first step includes cleaning, clearing vegetation, weeding, as well as leveling and filling the ground.
2- The second step consists of collecting water networks in a water well or catchment container. A little further, a ditch will be dug for water collection, to prevent from contamination by contact with the last land layers as water goes through. Next, that ditch will be filled with rocks or large pebbles which will work as a water filter and will enhance water flowing.
3- The third step includes completion of the outer construction at the extraction site so that the source does not become a mud.
4- The fourth step involves the protection of the construction, the place and the catchment area.
5- The town council should implement the necessary actions for following up and keeping the spring in good condition.
