The volunteers will help to build-up the festival area with tents, light and sound equipment and decoration. The Open-Air Filmfest Weiterstadt runs from 8th until 12th August 2019. In these 5 days is also support needed: stay at the info point, keep the area clean, join the kitchen team and prepare food for guests and staff. Afterwards the participants will also help to re-build the area. The working hours may be sometimes more than 6h and weekend are also working days, but there will be a compensatory time-off.
During the festival you will also get in touch with the international film makers and German locals. Of course, you will also have time to watch some movies. Stay tuned on the project partners homepage and fb-page to get informed about the programme.
Your accommodation will be basic. You will sleep in tents, please bring a sleeping bag and a camping mat with you. Showers and toilets are in a building next to your accommodation. The festival area is near a forest. There can be bugs, bees and wasps! Food will be provided by the project partner and camp participants will join the kitchen team in rotation principle.
The city of Weiterstadt offers about 24.000 people a home and is one of the youngest cities in the Rhein-Main-area (measured by the average age of the population). Weiterstadt is located around 20 kilometers south of Frankfurt, has a shopping mall, a station and direct access to the highway A5. Local clubs in all districts offer people of all ages lots of possibilities for free-time activities. The castle in Braunshardt and the recreational areas in Weiterstadt and Gräfenhausen are popular.
Quote: If the audience does not move to the cinema, the cinema moves to the audience.End.
Because during hot and sunny summer days, there was no audience inside, the local cinema of Weiterstadt (KoKi) decided to move outside with one of their movies (Pink Floyd in Pompeji), in 1977. The Open Air Filmfest Weiterstadt was born. During the years more films had been shown, the festival lasted more and more days, the audience increased, the open-air screen got enlarged, the afternoon presentations got extended, the area was getting bigger. That means a lot of more logistic and man power is needed. Therefore, the help of the workcamp volunteers will be very appreciated.
