Obrenovac is situated only 30 km from Belgrade, the capital city of Serbia. The picnic area Zabran is an oak wood isolated from the traffic noise and one of the favourite places among the local inhabitants. There are several excursions planned, one of them to visit Belgrade. Volunteers will have the opportunity to participate in various workshops which is organized by the Youth Office over the summer.
Obrenovac is one of the 17 Belgrade municipalities. It is named after the royal family Obrenovic, whose summerhouse and library are still there. It is surrounded by three rivers, with a recreational area and a spa. Obrenovac is proud of its rich cultural life. In May 2014 the town was severely flooded. In some parts of the town the water remained for more than six weeks. The damages were terrifying. Our five workcamps organized since gave great results as the volunteers were helping families in the renovation of their homes. Dozens of homes were renovated. The host of this workcamp for the past six years are Youth office of Obrenovac and Obrenovac Youth Foundation. They say now it is time for something different.
