The march will take place in different places in Wallonia and will visit different projects that are active in the urban agriculture field, eco-feminism, agro ecology, sobriety, theatre, solidarity with poor people and with migrants. This aims to be a march of individual, collective and social transformation.
Volunteers will logistically supervise the march in Belgium: by assembling and disassembling tents, supporting the kitchen team, installing dry toilets and a mobile kitchen, loading and unloading of vans,…. The work will be done mainly in the morning and in the evening. Volunteers will have free time to discover different places, but they could also march some days if they wish to. Every evening, they will be invited to participate in the debates and presentations.
In tent (provided by the partner). A solution will be provided in case of bad weather (spending the night in a building). Bring your mattress and your sleeping bag.
The march will start from Brussels beginning of July and volunteers will join it in Namur, in order to realize the second part of it. They will realize different stops in different places in Wallonia: Mettet, Anhée, Dinant, Houyet, Rochefort, Wellin, Libin, Bertrix, Neufchateau, Léglise, Chiny, Villers devant Virton, Avioth.See project JAI JAGAT 4.1, if you want to participate to the beginning of the march as a volunteer or as a walker (in this case financial contribution for your food will be asked).
The initiative Jai Jagat started with the Indian population movement Ekta Parishad, known for its long marches that bring together the landless peasants, poor people, the marginalized, to challenge the relations of power within society.
In Belgium, the campaign Jai Jagat is organized as an itinerant forum, walking from farm to farm, meet alternative places, associations. It will start July 1st from Brussels and will head to different places in order to rejoin in Geneva Sept. 25th 2020. Several associations and towns support it: everyday there will be exchange to elaborate advocacy that will be brought to Geneva. It will take one month and crossing of almost 30 towns, before arriving 31 July 2020 in the south of Belgium. This project covers the second part of the march in Belgium.
The work will be quite physical. To be interested in the topics. Two projects lasting two weeks and a half to cover the march are offered. It is possible to do one of them, both or one project only together with a part of the march.
Afterwards, there will be the possibility to continue towards Geneva, in order to take part in the international week JAI JAGAT from Sept. 26th to Oct. 3rd, together with walkers from New Delhi (one march started in Delhi last October 2nd 2019) and other countries (Spain, Belgium, Sweden, Italy, England, France, Germany) . One huge forum bringing together all the participants and the population of Geneva, will present at the ONU the developed program during the marches, for a new way of development to push the United Nations to act for justice and peace throughout the world.
