The village is crossed by a river that has its source in one of the deepest lakes in Europe, the Pavin Lake. On the banks of this river called Couze pavin , inhabitants once built water mills to use the energy offered by the river. These mills are now in ruins but there are remains to save Your mission will therefore be to preserve these mills. First of all, you will have to clear the ruins between the exposed part of the mill and the river : remove invasive plants in order to make the architecture of the mill visible. Second of all, your mission will be to consolidate the ruins by rebuilding dry-stone walls. You will learn how to place the stones to build a strong and stable wall. This workcamp is really important as it will preserve the history written by the inhabitants of the past. It will allow visitors to discover this typical heritage of the town. You will participate in the work with the other international volunteers and a technical supervisor will teach you the techniques related to restoration and reconstruction.
