You will take part in the life of the festival alongside the volunteers of the association Crest Jazz Vocal. You will help set up the rooms and the site. During the festival, you will regularly clean the site (scene, toilets, outside space…) and participate in waste management by respecting the waste/selective sorting. Some evenings you will also take part in drinks and concerts posters selling. At the end of the festival you will participate in the taking down and storage of all the equipment. Working hours are variable and depend on the need for labour on site, at the rate of 20 hours per week and sometimes on weekends. The rest of the time will be spend on leisure and group life. During the workcamp, your motivation is essential. Tasks on the festival are repetitive but essential to its success. You are expected to be dynamic, enthusiastic and ready to meet the public and the many local volunteers. Music-loving? You will get a free pass to attend most of the concerts. NB : Volunteers will not have access to the technical area (musical instrument and control room)
You will be accommodated on the first floor of the public school (former rooms for teachers).The kitchen is located in another building nearby where an extra shower and toilets are at your disposal. Sleeping will be on individual beds but remember to bring your sheets and sleeping bags.Meals will be prepared collectively and shared with the whole group. You are expected to contribute to daily tasks (cooking, washing up and cleaning). Don t hesitate to bring back specialties or recipes to show you re country s gastronomy to other volunteers and inhabitantsNB : At your expense, accommodation is possible on site if you arrive before or leave after the dates of the workcamp. Located in the Drome valley, in the south of the Vercors Regional Park, the town of Crest has 8000 inhabitants. Ancient medieval town and rich in heritage, Crest is dominated by the highest tower in France. Very lively during the summer period, the town offers many activities sport and cultural activities: visit exhibitions to the Art Center, visit to the Tower, night markets, free concerts, swimming pools, walks, meals with the locals and visit to Valence. At the end of the workcamp, you will be in charge of organizing a big international meal to make discover the specialties of your country and your culture. You can also bring pictures, music and traditional clothing.
Every summer, the Crest Jazz Vocal association organizes a festival: Crest Jazz Festival.This event is an important meeting for the commune of Crest. For a week, confirmed artists and young talents take turns on the stage. This event requires a great deal of material preparation and human mobilization. For more than ten years, motivated international volunteers have been helping to set it up.
