The old covered way runs along the old town s ramparts and leads to a stream. The municipality wants to make this path accessible to inhabitants and tourists. You will have to scrub the walls of invasive vegetation and prepare the ground for future creation (stairs probably). You will be supervised by a team from the town hall who will be happy to share their knowledge and this place s history with you. The construction site is located in the town centre and 15-20 minutes walk from your accommodation. You will walk to the site and work 4 to 5 hours a day.
You will be accommodated in tents at the sports and leisure complex Andre Gervais where you will have at your disposal the WC, shower and kitchen of the tennis premise. You can enjoy the sports facilities and the river located 3 minutes walk away. Sleeping will be on individual mattresses, so remember to bring your sleeping bags. Meals will be prepared collectively and you will be required to participate in daily tasks (cooking, washing up and cleaning)
Located in the southern Ardeche, Joyeuse has 1800 inhabitants. You will have scope to walk around the old town centre and discover the streets with their medieval character, the creators and craftsmen present. Joyeuse also has a museum around the chestnut, an emblematic food oh the Ardeche. You will be allowed to swim in the river near you camp. Activities will also be planned with the local population.
The inhabitants and elected representative of Joyeuse are waitingare looking forward to meeting you. An ancient fortified medieval town, the inhabitants are very attached to their architectural heritage and its history. You will take part in its protection and its valorization by allowing the access to the covered way.
