Werk

The purpose of the workcamp is to bring young people closer to different aspects of archeology, such as the excavation and treatment of materials. Scientifically it seeks to enhance the knowledge of the Roman city of Aeso, a place where archaeological excavations have recently resumed (Knight's orchard and Roman villa of Llorís). We will work, while enjoying the rural and natural landscape of the Pallars Jussà, to realize three main actions: a) Superficial cleaning in the plot known like Hort del Cavaller (Knight's Orchard), municipally owned. b) Archaeological excavation on the same plot. c) Treatment of archaeological materials preserved in the Museum of Isona and Conca Dellà and from the site mentioned in addition to those that may arise in the course of the action. Methodology: Archaeological excavations recorded with the Harris-Matrix method, accompanied by the corresponding graphic documentation (sections, plans and dimensions). The excavation will proceed to the identification of the stratigraphic units and their excavation. If the nature of the terrain were not superficial, samples would be collected later. The process of excavation will be carried out to recover the material remains (ceramics, lithics, bones, etc.) that may appear. Methodology of treatment and cleaning the archaeological materials: it will consist of the basic tasks washing, marking, identification and inventory. All the intervention, including the surface cleaning will be carried out according to the current regulations on archaeological interventions.

Accommodatie en maaltijden

The accomodation is in Isona's public hostel. It's capacity is for 15 people. The main access for the use of Hostel will be the one located in the ground floor, with a space destined to placement of information at the entrance. The hostel has 3 separate rooms with bathroom, with 8, 6 and 6 places. each room. There are bunk bed in each room. All the rooms is conditioned to be accessible in its entirety. Participants will cook for themselves in an independent kitchen.

Locatie en vrije tijd

The town of Isona is located in the south of the Pallars Jussà region of Lleida, included in one of the UNESCO Geoparcs. The town, of 600 inhabitants, was occupied by the Iberian and Roman culture, and long before, inhabited by some of the last dinosaurs that inhabited The Earth. Leisure activities: This are some of the leisure activities planned for the participants: -Choose from the outings and activities usually proposed by the Museu de la Conca Dellà (theme paleontological and medieval). - Take a trip with the boys and girls to a similar Roman site on one of the holidays, for example in Labitolosa (Puebla de Castro, Huesca), or perhaps in Iesso (Guissona, La Segarra). -Take outings to the nearby natural environments that allow bathing and more fun activities (river d’Abella, Sant Antoni reservoir, municipal swimming pools, etc.).
