Werk

The main objective of this work camp is to show the environmental reality and learn how to intervene in it by contributing to the conservation of the Natural Area of Sils wetlands. The participant will learn about the biodiversity and characteristic habitats of these wetlands and methods for the conservation and management of natural areas. The tasks are strictly linked with the preservation of its natural heritage, and the spaces they will work will be: - Standing lagoon. - Old viewpoint. - Water canal. - Infrastructures. - Awareness. The technical assignment will be: - Eradication and elimination of invasive flora and fauna. - Creation of a pond. - Creating and recovering connectivity spaces. - Maintenance and restoration of infrastructure. - Recovery of the central island and creation of points of insolation on the shores. - Garbage collection.

Accommodatie en maaltijden

The accommodation is located in the "Sala Cultural" of La Laguna (the local cultural center). It's an indoor space with a large entrance that is used as a hall where to do some leisure activities and also with a private kitchen. There is a large room where the participants will sleep and rest. Between these two areas there are separate restrooms and showers for boys and girls. With respect to food details, participants will eat organic, local and custodial products as much as possible. The organization consumes practically no fish and little meat, meaning no meat is eaten daily but the menu is balanced so that it provides all the necessary nutrients with the environment in mind.

Locatie en vrije tijd

La Laguna, Sils is a location of the La Selva region, it is a protected natural place characterized by wetlands, in fact, this place is rich of typical flora and fauna of this kind of these humid areas. Recreational activities will be held daily, and some days there will be scheduled excursions; participants may take part in the following activities: - Awareness activities. - Group cohesion dynamics. - Self management activities. - Bats observation. -Table games. - Dynamics of gender. - Excursion to "Can Moragues", the headquarters of Fundació Emys. A country house, situated in Riudarenes, next to Sils. - Excursion to Girona. - Excursion to Marimurtra Botanic Garden and Blanes town. - Excursion to Argimon. - Traditional dance with a Riudarenes town organization.

Organisatie

Emys Foundation is a non-profit organisation dedicated to the conservation of nature, especially wetlands and also the terrapin Emys orbicularis, that give the name to the Foundation. Born in 2003, Emys foundation is located close to Riudarenes in a country farm called Can Moragues. It aims to help various territorial actors to manage the environmental and natural areas in a sustainable way by promoting Agroecology, a sustainable forest management approach, environmental education and eco-tourism. The organization works with a conciliatory view, where the challenge is involving the owners, managers and users of the territory in the natural heritage values, its sustainable management and its long-term conservation. All this is done by voluntary work, land stewardship, research, conservation, education and consciousness-raising.
