The town council is setting up a « Garden of Taste » on a ground opposite the town hall. It will be up to you to build access to it, so that as many people as possible can use it! The land slopes down to the river, nearby the location of your camp. It is ideally situated between the village centre and the « Ile aux Grottes » leisure area. The county has donated red berry plantations to the council, which have been planted in the « Garden of Taste » for the benefit of the inhabitants. Your task will consist in creating access to the Garden, by building steps of different sizes, so that they can be accessible for children, adults and also elderly people. Working alongside a technical camp leader, you will learn to dig trenches, select and cut stones and build low walls using lime and sand. The tasks will be varied and your aim will be to create a landscape that is nice and sustainable!

Accommodatie en maaltijden

You will be accompanied by two camp leaders throughout your stay. The camp will be set up on the « Ile aux Grottes », which is the village's recreation area, located near the river Sioule. You will sleep near the football stadium, in individual tent, on the grass (toilets, showers and changing rooms are at your disposal in the stadium). You will have your meals in the community centre, which offers a collective kitchen and a large living space. This will be reserved for your group and closed to the public. The group will be sharing the cleaning chores and preparing meals together. The budget will be allocated to the group leader and you will participate in the preparation of meals, prioritizing products from the market and local producers. Wi-Fi available in the village. Hand washing of laundry.

Locatie en vrije tijd

The village is located a few kilometres away from Saint-Pourcain-sur-Sioule, in the district of Allier, heart of the Bourbonnais region. Small town of 5 000 residents, Saint-Pourçain spreads along the river Sioule in a lovely countryside landscape. During your stay, you will enjoy the town's summery energy and the countryside right on its doorstep (hiking, swimming in the lakes, local party, etc.).

Every year, the Saint-Pourcain Sioule Limagne municipalities welcome European volunteers and international workcamps on its territory, in partnership with Concordia. This year, the town of Bayet offered a workcamp project and is delighted to welcome international volunteers for the first time. The inhabitants will make sure that you are welcome in the best possible conditions. You will take part in the village festival on 23rd July (collective meal, fireworks).

Foreigners belonging to the European Union must bring with them a personal EHIC (European Health Insurance Card), and everybody must, in any case, bring their insurance certificate. If health issues arise on the project, volunteers will have to pay for it, and will then be reimbursed once back in their home country.

Bring work clothes, walking boots and a backpack. Nights can be chilly, so bring warm clothes and a good sleeping bag. You can also bring recipes from your home country, musical instruments and games. You will get around Bayet by foot, car and punctually by minibus. For more information visit:
