Werk

Come and discover the French Alps this summer from Valloire, in Savoy region! Concordia and the municipality of Valloire offer you the opportunity to carry out an international volunteer workcamp in one of the most beautiful places in Savoy. Combine business with pleasure by getting involved in a project that enhances the local environment and soft mobility. You will work on one of the hiking trails of the town where you will have to find an old path to make a loop while avoiding the passage on a road. On one section you will have to retrace the path through a wooded area and then a meadow. If you are careful, you will find an old low wall that will lead you to the path. The work will mainly involve clearing the undergrowth, digging and levelling using the materials present on the spot in order to reopen the path. Some dry stone masonry work may be useful depending on the condition of the low wall which will also be enhanced. No specific skills are required to participate in this project. Motivation and good mood will enable you to take up this challenge!

Accommodatie en maaltijden

You will be accommodated in individual tents at the Valloire campsite. You will have access to sanitary facilities and showers within the establishment. The municipality will make available a part of the village hall which is located less than 200 metres from the campsite. We will provide a kitchen and a living space for group time and for retreat in case of bad weather. Together, you will participate in the organisation of the collective life (cleaning, activities...) and in the preparation of meals, in rotation, using products that will be bought nearby. As much as possible, we will favour local and seasonal products as well as short distribution channels, taking care to respect the diets of all the participants.

Locatie en vrije tijd

Located in the Savoy department, in the Auvergne Rhone-Alpes region, the municipality of Valloire extends over 17 hamlets in the heart of the Tarentaise massif and a few kilometres from the Italian border. In the centre of the village, the altitude is 1400 metres. But if you wish to go higher, the Galibier pass reaches 2642 metres! This is the perfect place to discover exceptional landscapes. Numerous hikes await you, such as the one leading to the Lac de Cerces. In a nearby area, many lakes with swimming areas will allow you to refresh yourself. And if you appreciate heritage, you will discover the unusual Fort du Telegraphe. As for gastronomy, you will not fail to (re)discover the Savoyard cheeses produced on site! The resort has numerous sports and cultural facilities (swimming pool, cinema, media library, etc.) as well as local shops.

Organisatie

Valloire is a tourist resort both in summer and winter. It is a welcoming resort that regularly organises numerous events unveiling the richness of its territory and of Savoyard culture. Throughout the year, inhabitants and tourists meet in a friendly atmosphere that combines access to leisure activities and traditions. The municipality organises an international volunteer workcamp for the first time, with the aim of helping you discover this place in a different way.

Vereisten

Foreigners belonging to the European Union must bring with them a personal EHIC (European Health Insurance Card), and everybody must, in any case, bring their insurance certificate. If health issues arise on the project, volunteers will have to pay for it, and will then be reimbursed once back in their home country.

Opmerkingen

Remember to take clothes that cover up and are not sensitive to dirt for the time spent on site. In the mountains, despite the sunshine, the weather is surprising and can change rapidly. For leisure activities as well as for the work site, it is necessary to take clothes adapted to the climate (polar fleece or warm jumper, shorts and hiking trousers, windbreaker, down jacket, warm socks...). Shoes with a high and notched upper are imperative. Don't forget sun protection (a hat or cap is essential, sunglasses with a high protection factor because of the intense reverberation, sun cream with a high protection factor IP30-50...) and a swimsuit for swimming or for activities in fresh water. For sleeping, remember to take a warm sleeping bag (comfort 10°C) and a pillowcase (you can put things in it and easily make a pillow). You should also consider taking a backpack (in addition to your luggage), comfortable trainers and a pair of flip-flops. It will also be useful to bring these essential accessories: a mobile phone charger, hiking poles (not compulsory but recommended), a water bottle, a set of bandages, and a headlamp or pocket lamp. We will plan convivial times in collaboration with our leaders and according to your wishes. If you wish to share a bit of your culture (cooking recipes, traditional stories, unusual objects, music...), do not hesitate to put a little piece of your country/region in your backpack.
