Do you love heritage and nature and want to be part in a project with positive impact? Come and contribute to the development of a path in Clermont L'Herault where the Caylus “calade” (traditional streets made of stones) is located. This path will take you to a hill that overlooks the town. The municipality wishes to maintain its paths for the pleasure of hikers. Discover the rich heritage of the town, with its archaeological oppidum, its “capitelles” (cabins made of dry stones) and old dry stone walls, and its calades. Your work will consist of enhancing the site by carrying out small-scale landscaping work, clearing overgrown weed and making small improvements to the existing calade. This work is therefore essential to maintain the path while allowing visitors, walkers and the curious people of all horizons to come and discover this rich heritage!

Accommodatie en maaltijden

You will be accommodated at the Salagou lake campsite. Sleeping in individual tents (bring your own sleeping bag and camping mat). You will have access to toilets and showers. The campsite has all the comforts for daily and collective life. You will share the various collective tasks and prepare meals together. A budget will be allocated to the leaders and you will participate in the grocery shopping and the preparation of meals, prioritising healthy and local products.

Locatie en vrije tijd

Clermont L'Herault is a charming little town located north of Montpellier in the South of France. With the advantage of a Mediterranean climate and a remarkable natural environment (Lac du Salagou, rivers of the Gorges de l'Herault nearby), it also has a rich cultural heritage with its castle and cathedral. In the heart of a preserved environment, you can enjoy the pleasure of outdoor activities and make cultural and festive discoveries.

Since 2015, Concordia has a very strong partnership with the town of Clermont l'Herault and local associations that promote the discovery of local heritage. The offices of our regional delegation are located in the town. We carry out several volunteer projects for young people in the area. We work together with volunteers from local heritage associations. The enhancement of the calade on the communal path contributes to the enrichment of the commune's heritage.

Foreigners belonging to the European Union must bring with them a personal EHIC (European Health Insurance Card), and everybody must, in any case, bring their insurance certificate. If health issues happen on the project, volunteers will have to pay for them, and will then be reimbursed once back in their home country.

Remember to bring gloves, clothes and good shoes for the working day. Also remember to bring your sunglasses, a hat or cap and sunscreen, swimsuit and a beach towel! The days can be hot but the nights can be cool. If you wish, you can also bring music, a typical object from your country/region to share your culture with the other participants. Open to French, German and Spanish volunteers only. This project is supported by the French-German Youth Office (OFAJ / DFJW). Some volunteers from France, Germany and Spain may be eligible after the project for reimbursement of their travel costs upon the presentation of original tickets.
