The volunteers will work 80% on cleaning and repairing bee hives. Be prepared for this. It might be a bit boring...but it is really important for us. You can see a video of what you mainly do:
We will also help a local honey producer so we will be able to dive a bit into a more professional approach to apiculture.
But...that is not all. We will also keep some time for other things like making marmalade (see our project Jam Session and supporting the local community with small tasks like painting and cleaning the area.
If the work goes at the right stage there are chances of doing local excursions using our vans. Plus, there is always a chance that we might be asked to support a local initiative that might unexpectedly pop up.

The accommodation will take place in Casa Jazmin, it is the house of the DeAmicitia, located in Sanet i Negrals. The house is equipped for projects like this. The house has three bedrooms (4, 6 and 8 beds each), 5 toilets, kitchen, living room and a big terrace where you can enjoy the view of the surrounding villages, mountains and orange tree fields.
During the project there will be created cooking and cleaning teams by the volunteers

Sanet i Negrals is a small and cosy village located 10 km away from the Mediterranean Sea between Valencia and Alicante with a population of 650 people.
The house is located right in the middle of town, so there are great opportunities to interact and socialize with the locals and to truly experience the Spanish countryside. Furthermore, the volunteers can make excursions to Ondara and El Vergel, local towns close to Sanet. The surrounding villages like Benimelli and Ràfol d'Almunia can also be visited. There will also be day trips to the beach which is about 15 minutes by car from Sanet.

The project is hosted and organized by De Amicitia.

Currently, De Amicitia has an apiary of 12 hives in the surroundings of Altea (Alicante) which are maintained by national and international volunteers who collaborate with our association and who, later on, will also be in charge of taking care of and maintaining the beekeeping club. For such we run a campaign to create a club to maintain the apiary, turning the apiary into a club for local people, volunteers and anyone interested in beekeeping.

Our main objective is to improve the biodiversity of the area and increase crop productivity through pollination. To do this, we want to increase the number of hives in our apiary and thus increase the number of bees in the area. But that's not all, because at De Amicitia we consider it essential to highlight the importance of beekeeping as an essential activity for sustainable development.
