Locatie en vrije tijd

At the edge of the land owned by the house there is a very evocative deconsecrated chapel (Cappella della Bruna, in the Association s logo). The chapel stands in the place where Blessed Giovanni da Vespignano used to pray in 1200, hence the name Aia Santa .500 meters from the house is the hill of Vespignano, with the remains of the medieval castle, the house where Giotto was born (with a small museum to visit) and a parish church.Aiasanta is relatively close to:-Barbiana, home of Don Milani s school (20min drive).-Lake Barberino (20min drive) where you can swim in summer

The project takes place in Vicchio, 35 km from Florence, where the Podere Aia Santa of the non-profit association Le C.A.S.E. has been located since 2007. It is run by a number of volunteer families who have chosen to live in a community way and with sober lifestyles, without being owners of the structures. The association brings together five experiences of family homes and two experimental centers. Aia Santa is one of these centers and since autumn 2008 it has been hosting migrants leaving family homes or asylum seekers. The adults in the families have jobs outside the community and contribute their own voluntary work to the renovation of the buildings, farming and hosting activities. In addition to accommodation, the 16 hectares of land are used for organic farming and for training and experimentation on socially responsible and environmentally sustainable lifestyles. Especially during the summer period, we offer hospitality to scout and volunteer groups and organize work camps. The Aia Santa farm has a website: and a Facebook page: aiasanta. We are asking for the collaboration of IBO for the maintenance of the house and the arrangement of the outdoor spaces.

This camp is for italian and international volunteers. Bring flashlight, safety shoes, work gloves, sleeping bag or sheets and pillowcase, personal medicine, mosquito repellent products. If you play any musical instrument, bring them with you.
