Volunteers will work in three different sites helping to clean the outside area of the abbey from stones, supporting the renovation of the inside space of Castellaccio by painting walls, and helping cleaning the ruins of a sixteenth-century tower in Portella S. Anna from litter and planting trees.

International volunteers will be host in the monastery runs by monks and located in San Martino delle Scale. Simple meals will be provided by monks.

San Martino delle Scale is a nice place for hiking and walk in the wood. Palermo is the closest cities which an be reached by public bus. Other places can be visited: Monreale, Partinico, Mondello beach.

This workcamp is organised in cooperation with S.Martino Abbey and CAS (Centro Alpino Siciliano - Sicilian Alpine Centre) with the aim to renovate outside places of the abbey and the Castellaccio a big medieval castle built on the mount Caputo by Normands in XII Century to defend the town of Monreale.

Volunteers have to like being in a natural outdoor environment and hiking mountains, also interested in historical places. Work can be tiring.
