The youth and school farm Othal e.V. has taken over an old farm, which is located not far from the rose town Sangerhausen. It is surrounded by oak forests, orchards and fields. The school farm is an extracurricular place of learning for groups of children of all ages and school types. You can actively experience everyday farm life with all its traditions, the responsible handling of animals and plants and the cycle of nature at first hand. Your support is needed here! There are a number of tasks on the site that should be implemented with your help: You will redesign the paddocks for the horses, sheep and goats, old piers must be removed and new holes drilled for the piers so that you can then set them and brace them with new wire. You will also help with the daily care and feeding of the animals.

Accommodatie en maaltijden

You cook together. Money for the food shopping is provided to you. Vegetarian or vegan meals are possible. Please indicate any allergies when registering. You are accommodated in the school hostel on the grounds of the school farm, shared room

Locatie en vrije tijd

If you like living in the countryside with animals, this is the place for you. On the grounds of the of the school hostel you can make campfires, barbecue, and there is plenty of space and possibilities for table tennis, badminton and just relaxing in the hammock. There is a possibility to hike to the “cherry farmer” or to bake bread on site. In the area there is an outdoor swimming pool, a bowling alley and a climbing rock. Possible is also a canoe trip on the Unstrut, a trip to the historic Kyffhäuser or go-karting in Ringleben. On weekends you can decide whether you want to go to Erfurt, Leipzig, Magdeburg or Halle (Saale) to experience the great historic university cities.

Covid Rules (may change depending on the course of the pandemic): 2G+: Only vaccinated and recovered persons can register for the work camp.
