Werk

Your mission will be to participate in the enhancement of the Manoir de la Mure, a superb example of Renaissance civil architecture dating from the end of the 16th century and the beginning of the 17th century. On the other hand, you will participate in the restoration of the cottage of the charming port of La Caille which, with its boat lapping and clattering masts, gives an air of vacation. You will be supervised by volunteers and the technical service of the commune. They will be happy to share with you their know-how and the history of this particular place. This workcamp will allow you to acquire technical skills in the maintenance of woodwork and window frames. You will also develop your ability to work in a team, to listen to instructions and to others, to adapt to the environment, to be reactive, to be rigorous and to help each other. Your accommodation will be located at 10 minutes walk from the site, where you will go on foot. You will work 4 to 5 hours a day.

Accommodatie en maaltijden

You will be accommodated in tents on the grounds of the multi-purpose hall (village hall gymnasium) in Saint-Jean. You will have access to the mezzanine and the kitchen of the village hall as well as the toilets and showers of the gymnasium. Each volunteer will be asked to take an active part in the collective life of the group: preparation of meals, cleaning of dishes, cleaning of toilets and premises. On Sunday mornings, you will be able to go to the market to discover the local products. WiFi access will be available.

Locatie en vrije tijd

Located in the northwestern part of the Loire department and part of the Massif Central, the village of Saint Jean Saint-Maurice sur Loire has 1,200 inhabitants and offers an exceptional living environment. The fusion of two former villages offers to the current commune an important patrimonial wealth: the parish church, the sundial tower, the house with the fleur-de-lis, the Ris Serpentin gate, the Saint-Maurice fortress, the churches of Saint Maurice and Saint Jean or the Maison du Tonnelier. You will also be able to stroll in the narrow streets of Saint-Maurice and meet many art craftsmen (jewelry, sculpture). A map of the many hiking trails will be available for you.The village website will give you an overview of the place and the local activities: https://saintjeansaintmaurice.fr/

Organisatie

Welcome to the country of the pink stone Born from the merger of two villages, Saint-Jean Saint-Maurice sur Loire is organized around two centers of life: the medieval village of Saint-Maurice, nestled on a promontory overlooking the Loire and the village of Saint-Jean occupying a less steep territory. Attached to the richness of their heritage and welcoming a large number of tourists during the summer period, the commune wished to welcome an international youth workcamp with the mission of enhancing the Manoir de la Mure.

Vereisten

A good physical condition is necessary for this work camp. In the context of group life, skills such as listening, respect, tolerance and open-mindedness will be necessary.
