Werk

This year s work will involve the repair of stone walls, the cleaning and sorting of fallen stones, the cleaning and development of the pathway to the castle in order to enhance the ruins of the old village. You will also work on the installation of a stone paving to access the heart of the village, and you will help with the reinforcement of a staircase leading from the fort to the gardens of Yseult. Thanks to this project you will be led to mobilize your communication skills, listening skills and adaptation to a special environment and specific technical constraints. You will be supervised by technicians from the commune and local volunteers who will be happy to share the history of this place with you. You will work 4 to 5 hours per day.

Accommodatie en maaltijden

You will be accomodated in a communal hall where you will have a space for cooking, showers and sanitary facilities. Mattresses will be provided. You will participate in the preparation of meals and in the daily tasks (washing up, cleaning, tidying up). The nearest shop is 3km away.

Locatie en vrije tijd

The size of the castle site and its church attract visitors every year to discover the castle, especially to admire the partially destroyed fresco recounting the story of Tristan and Yseult. Thanks to numerous hiking trails you will be able to admire hills and mountains landscape typical of the volcanic region of Auvergne, visit the regional natural parks and even follow in the footsteps of pilgrims on the road to Santiago de Compostela. Many geological sites attract the explorers such as the Tete de Lion spring and the Grotte des Fees . By going to meet the local producers you will savour their local specialities, like cheese, nuts and truffles. If you prefer fruits, Popopopomme offer you to pick the fruits yourself, depending on the season. The village is also home to artisans and artists, by exploring the village, you will probably find the soap workshop, artistic metalworker or the ecologically responsible creations of jewelry and graphic decorations creator Marie Pom. In addition, the villages of Clemensat and Saint-Vincent are only 15 minutes walk away from Saint-Floret. The city hall website can give you an overview of the place and the activities you will find there : https://saint-floret.fr/

For the second time, the commune wishes to join this program with a volunteer workcamp. The inhabitants of the commune will be happy to share with you the progress of the project and their history.

Vereisten
